Graham Potter was left frustrated by a clear foul from his opponents but the referee awarded the decisive goal as they lost 1-0

at home to Newcastle United. The Hammers were held to a 65th-minute home win by the Magpies when Harvey Barnes crossed from the edge of the area for Bruno Guimaraes to tap in from close range.
West Ham tried to claim that top scorer Alexander Isak had pushed defender Max Kilman in the build-up to the goal, but referee Michael Salisbury ruled out a foul and VAR did not intervene.
Kilman said after the defeat: “It should have been a foul, 100 per cent. I was in the air and I felt a big shove. It’s a tough defeat but we’ve got to move on.” Potter
had a similar sentiment: “The goal annoyed us. Isaac had both hands on Max and he knew it. “
You could see it from Isaac’s reaction not to celebrate the goal. From our point of view, he should have been the first to give a foul. But it doesn’t look like VAR did it. “
A very physical one-on-one opponent. We wanted to be more forward but you have to give credit to Newcastle. “
I have sympathy for the lads, they gave a lot. We started well, we defended solidly, both ourselves and the opponent had their moments. “
It was not our day. We had some chances but we could have done better with the ball. And We conceded a lot of goals before, now we tried to create some stability. “
We didn’t create enough chances to win the game but we deserved something from the game. Overall we showed a strong attitude and commitment. We just need to keep improving our offensive game. It’s not easy in the middle of the season but I’m sure we can do it.”
